JetBlue has started offering a Bags VIP service which allows for a delivery of your luggage to your residential, business, or hotel destination directly from the airport. No more baggage claim, no waiting around!

The Fine Print

The service is eligible for up to 10 piece of baggage and guarantees delivery to your destination within four hours from flight landing, provided that it's within 40 miles from the airport. Your first bag is $29, second $39, and three or more bags is $49. 

Clearly it's a high price to pay for a single bag, but if you're going to a conference or traveling with a family, the ability to have 5+ bags delivered to your hotel for only $50 can be extremely convenient.

Normally Bags VIP only offers up to 8 bags, as denoted on their main site, but it seems JetBlue has arranged for up to 10 - increasing the value quite a bit potentially. You can view the FAQ from Bags VIP for any special circumstances or details.

New Amenities

This is directly in line with JetBlue's other recent announcement of a coat check available at JFK ($2/day, $10/week). As other airlines are swiftly catching up to JetBlue in regards to service, social media, and pricing, it seems the carrier's new strategy is to leverage partnerships to make the entire travel experience a more fun one. There are a ton of things that can go wrong long before and after you ever make it to the gate for your flight, and bringing in these well priced options allows JetBlue to extend special conveniences for its customers while not affecting their bottom line pricing model.

It's a great move and although I don't see myself using either service, it's nice to know that the option is there and sometimes that alone is a benefit.
