Mosaic Challenge - Earn Free Mosaic Status through 2015

Will You Rise to the Occasion?

Wow! JetBlue has really gone and outdone themselves this time. While many airlines and hotel reward programs will offer matching, i.e. if you're mega ultra platinum on airline A you can get a similar or equivalent status on airline B. This makes a lot of sense in the travel world which is forever becoming more competitive.

JetBlue has an amazing offer that is based on this premise but includes a ton more bonuses. Available from March 18th to April 18th for signup, the Mosaic Challenge is giving anyone a chance to grab Mosaic status through December 31st, 2015! The two ways to get the Mosaic badge are to: have a similar elite status from another airline or earn 3,750 base TrueBlue points within 90 days after you begin the challenge.

The routes for completing the Mosaic Challenge.

There is one major catch, however. If you don't already have the Mosaic badge or an equal status on another airline, you'll be earning your badge the old fashioned way - flying. The requirement of 3,750 TrueBlue points seems fairly easy. For example, I'm getting a total of 8 TrueBlue points per dollar spent on JetBlue.com with my JetBlue by Amex card. This offer only counts base points, however, which are capped at 3 points per dollar. That means you're going to spend a minimum of $1,250 in 90 days to clinch this promotion. And since TrueBlue points don't post until you actually fly, you'll need to book soon. Very soon.

If, however, you can make one of the two routes to success happen, you'll be handsomely rewarded. This promotion will get you Mosaic status for over a year and a half, through December 31st of 2015, which is almost unheard of when getting an elite status from an airline in any way shape or form. And the perks are pretty great:

  • Waived cancellation fees
  • 15,000 bonus TrueBlue points
  • 1st and 2nd bags free
  • Early boarding
  • +3 TrueBlue points per dollar on JetBlue.com
  • and more!

So there it is. An awesome deal, but one that may require a little bit of scrambling. The reward is great but the challenge may take some maneuvering as well. If you've been planning a trip, now's a great time to take it and get the Mosaic badge all through 2014 and 2015, which should be well worth the trouble.

I have about $200 worth of JetBlue travel already booked for early April, so I'm off to see if I can squeeze out an extra $1,000 in time to make it happen.

One question that remains unanswered is whether or not the GoPack promotion can count as base points? For example, the JFK Go North 6 pack gives you 4,800 TrueBlue points. This is far less than you'd earn by buying the flights individually, so if they count as base points then you could get the Mosaic Challenge complete for < $900 by using the GoPack route. I'll update when I hear back from JetBlue customer support.
