Marriott Points

Best Earning Strategy for Marriott Rewards

One of JetBlue's partners is the Marriott hotel chain. You can earn TrueBlue points
instead of Marriott reward points when staying at any of the branded Marriott hotels. Once you add your TrueBlue number to your Marriott account and set your preferences, points will automatically be deposited into your account with Jet blue. There are some details to
the partnership which may not be obvious at first, so be sure to be mindful when using
the partnership to cross-earn points.

A few of the Marriott hotel types

Marriott rewards partnership differs from other hotel programs, such as Hilton's double dip, because you are effectively choosing TrueBlue points instead of Marriott points, not in addition to. So the first step is really deciding which is more valuable to you, Marriott points or TrueBlue points. If it turns out JetBlue points are more useful, any new Marriott rewards accrued from hotel stays can be set to convert to TrueBlue points automatically.

The program offers a great way to earn quick TrueBlue points, which is especially useful if you don't have the American Express JetBlue card, but do have the Marriott card by Chase. Using the Marriott program is a great way to earn 5x points per dollar for stays at Marriott hotels. This isn't as good as the 8x per dollar accrual for JetBlue purchases with the Amex, but it is a great supplement or can make a decent substitute for earning TrueBlue points quickly.

As usually the only way to accrue hotel rewards is to stay at the hotels or use a branded credit card, it is important to note one caveat with the relationship between Marriott and Jet-blue: TrueBlue points can only be accrued from hotel stays and not from the Chase Marriott credit card. A coffee purchase that may earn 4 Marriott reward points will not be eligible to become TrueBlue points.
