An Online Forum for Everything JetBlue
For those of us interested in making the most out of travel, there exist manycommunities of like minded people to share and cultivate ideas, strategies, and tips
around cost efficient and enjoyable air travel. Whether it be for business or pleasure,
the internet is is a great place to share and find information pertaining to airlines and
their reward programs. Websites like flyer talk, blogs like well traveled mile, and many
different subreddits are all dedicated to travel in general.
JetBlue, however, hosts its own community called JetBlue community. the forum is in
beta but provides a great way to share with other JetBlue patrons and get responses
from JetBlue on questions and issues that others may find useful.
The JetBlue forum accounts
Your TrueBlue account can get you into the forums, so no additional log on is needed.
JetBlue utilizes a single sign on system so all of their web functions will always be
tied together with your one login. However when it comes too the forum, you have
additional options for your profile. There are settings to limit how much information
others can see, such as....
The content
There are several sections, namely for general discussion, promotion info, and recent posts. Topics range from requesting new routes to when points from a partnership deal will show up in one's account. These usually have a JetBlue representative chiming in if there is additional information
that needs to be added to the conversation. From browsing for just a little while I found a thread from a JetBlue representative gave a link to request new routes be added to JetBlue, something which I didn't know they actively took suggestions on.
The posts date back to 2010 and continue to have active involvement from both the
user base as well as the JetBlue staff. The content tends to err on the side of beginner
questions and concerns but much of the information is JetBlue specific which is helpful
to have documented.
The sections of the True Blue Community forums |
It is worth noting that even after 4 years, the community is still listed as beta. There
isn't any explanation of what exactly this beta status means, but it is safe to assume it
isn't a high priority for JetBlue and isn't about to receive any publicity anytime soon.
Finding a link to the forum from the main site is itself an arduous task and most people
probably would not come across it organically.
This is probably why the user base for the community is relatively small and doesn't
quite qualify as highly active, but hopefully that will change if and when the community
leaves its beta status. Providing easy access to it from the main site could be a huge
bump to participation and the amount of user content.
The bottom line
The JetBlue community is certainly no replacement for the depth of knowledge of
flyer talk and may still be an inherently slower way too access customer service than
direct contact or through social media, but having the option to use the forum and
being able to scroll through past issues and questions is an interesting and educational
experience in and of itself. JetBlue has grown so fast over there past decade and a
small snapshot of that progress can be seen through some of the threads which span
multiple years as people update issues, concerns, and news about the airline.
